Fall 2024 Anthropology Newsletter

Dear Anthropology Friends,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 academic year! As we end our fall semester, we continue to reflect on our 50 years as a department. In September we welcomed many alumni, faculty and staff (past and present), and current students to reflect on our history.
This wonderful event included a provocative keynote talk by Simon Fraser Medical Anthropologist Susan Erikson, a number of campus and lab tours, and lots of time to catch up with old friends. This fall our celebrations continue, with many alumni giving colloquium talks on their ongoing research. Many of these are posted on our website, so please do check them out!
This newsletter also highlights many of our recent successes, from our 2024 graduates and incoming students, and a number of recent awards and publications. Of particular note are the many accomplishments playing out at Sustainable Archaeology (SA), which many of our anniversary celebrants visited in September. Wishing all a happy end of 2024 and a successful 2025.
